Chantepierre | Nestling in the heart of the Loire Valley lies the peace and tranquillity of Chantepierre - a tastefully furnished and well equipped traditional longere (a long house). The name Chantepierre translates to "Singing Stones", and the house itself is situated less than 1km from the centre of the village of Meigne le Vicomte which offers a bar and small shop. The bustling market town of Noyant is just 7km away, with the historic city of Saumur on the banks of the River Loire a 40 km (30 minutes) drive. Combining rustic charm with fabulous space and essential living, Chantepierre is well equipped for families and individuals - having flexible accommodation that can comfortably accommodate 8 people. A sofa bed on the mezzanine floor can sleep a further 2 guests. In off peak times, it is possible for the guest suite to be closed off, providing a wonderfully comfortable house for smaller groups of 2/4 people. (Long term lets are also available during the winter months). |

A traditional longere, Chantepierre originally provided a small farmhouse dwelling with adjoining barns. Over the years it has been converted to provide a spacious and extremely well furnished longere, while maintaining much of its original charm and character. It's private one acre garden features wonderful shaded tree areas as well as an expanse of open lawns which enjoy a glorious south facing aspect. It's 10 x 5m swimming pool (maximum depth 1.5m) has a safety alarm and decorative fencing for extra peace of mind. The garden also includes slides, swings, football net and outdoor table tennis. Accessed from the garage, is a small indoor children's games room which has a small snooker table, table tennis, darts and table football. In the main house itself, there is a large utility/boot room with a dishwasher, washing machine and a second/drinks fridge. Also downstairs is a large bathroom/shower room with a double sink, bath, toilet and shower cubicle. The well equipped kitchen has a gas hob and electric oven, large fridge, microwave oven, and table which comfortably seats six. The kitchen also features a traditional log burner. Stable doors open onto the garden. Off the kitchen is a fabulous open plan living/dining room with CD hi-fi system, television, UK satellite, and DVD player. A collection of CDs and films are available for your enjoyment as are a range of board games. The dining area features a table capable of seating up to ten people. Doors open onto the garden from both the dining and lounge areas. Off the living room is a large and spacious family/guest suite which enjoys a lovely aspect with doors opening onto the garden. The suite is well furnished with a king size bed, small lounge area, and separate shower room/toilet. A staircase takes you up to a private floor which features a twin bedroom. Back in the main part of the house, stairs from the living room lead up to the first floor where a galleried landing provides an additional lounge area with a sofa bed suitable for two extra guests. Off the landing is another twin bedroom. A large country style bathroom and large master bedroom with double bed, separate en-suite shower and toilet complete the layout. Chantepierre is very child friendly, and stair gates, a high chair, and two travel cots are available. A baby changing facility is available in the downstairs bathroom. |
